Our Story Began With Peanut Cookies

The family enterprise began with the labor-intensive production of peanut cookies wholesaled to Singapore's coffee shops. While the business thrived, it faced scalability challenges due to the meticulous process.

1994 - added new manufacturing operations in Malaysia with automation

1980s

Sun Lim Garden Foodstuffs (SLG) Was Established

In 1985, Mr. Michael Ng took over the family business and established Sun Lim Garden Foodstuffs (SLG). Embracing new ideas, he transitioned the focus to nut-based snacks. SLG began sourcing, importing, processing, packaging, and selling nuts, gradually winning over taste buds of locals, and establishing itself as a key player in the market.

Early '90s

Delivering Superior Quality & Safety

In 1994, it added new manufacturing operations in Malaysia, with "no-man operation" processing. With full automation, no manual handling of the raw materials are needed, ensuring the highest hygiene standards. The company ventured overseas with humble beginnings, with a small sales and marketing team in Malaysia and in Indonesia.

Late '90s

By 1995, the production line in Malaysia was operating at full scale, and the company continued to grow with expanded operations in Indonesia.

 

SLG's familiar “Kangaroo” brand reflects the brand’s agility and youthful vitality. A new brand "Mr Best" was later created, and launched nationwide in Malaysia in 1997!

Always striving to meet the needs of health-conscious customers, the "Kangaroo" brand was among the first to introduce a Healthy Series in 2015, offering nuts with less sodium and sugar, and incorporating powerhouse ingredients like goji berries and black beans. This commitment to health and flavour ensures that everyone can enjoy delicious, wholesome snacks.
